New York03.28.12

Being asked to travel is one of the best parts of my job. When I was asked to travel to New York City I couldn’t help but bring my wife and spend a few extra days. If you haven’t been to New York, its an amazing experience that you won’t forget. I’m very excited to share some of the amazing pictures from the couple that brought me to New York, but until then, here are some of the pictures from our time there.

Brooklyn Bridge was even cooler than I thought. Even being punched in the arm by an unfriendly cyclist couldn’t ruin the coolness.

Here we are at the Metropolitan Museum.  To be honest I was kind of bored till we hit the Modern art section; it was definitely more our style.  Once we realized that, we decided that The Museum of Modern Art was a must.

I’m sure if we had just decided to blindly spend a few day in New York we would have had fun, but luckily we didn’t have to do it blind. We spent the whole time with our sister-in-law. Allyse was our tour guide and made the whole experience so much more fun. Sadly we didn’t get to see Blake (my wife’s brother) very much, due to his VERY demanding job as an investment banker/analyst. However the few times we did get to spend with him were usually spent enjoying some of New York’s amazing restaurants. Peruvian from Pio Pio, an amazing burger from Hillstone, and even a Frozen Hot Chocolate from Serendipity.

Jessica and Miles St. George Engagement Session03.05.12

I loved that Jessica and Miles asked me to go to St. George to shoot their engagement session. They wanted outdoor pictures, sans snow, and they love the red rocks. I love the red rocks as well, but mostly I love the warmer weather. So I was more than happy to drive there. Thanks to these two for the fun session/weekend they gave me.

Chelsie’s Bridals03.03.12

This is typically the downtime for wedding photography, but it’s not feeling like downtime to me. I love being busy though. I get to meet so many fun couples that are just ecstatic about their up coming wedding day. Here is another one of those fun brides. I think we both underestimated how cold shooting her bridals in the middle of winter would be. Despite the sub freezing temperatures, she fought right through it, and we got some great shots.
Yesterday was her wedding and despite me falling flat on my face at the temple, spilling my lenses all over, in front of all her guests and the other photographers waiting for their newly married couples, it was a beautiful and fun wedding.

Janey and Kasey Bridals02.24.12

The wedding yesterday was a blast. I knew a lot of people there, most of them were couple’s whose weddings I shot last year. Like I said in yesterdays post, I really feel like I become friends with my clients. That was very true at the wedding last night. I was surrounded by friends. Congrats, again, to Kasey and Janey Feller.

Janey and Kasey E-Session02.23.12

I’ve been so lucky with the couples I’ve been able to work with. I genuinely leave a session feeling like good friends. Janey and Kasey are so fun to be around, and its easy to see that they are genuinely in love and it shows in every picture. I’m off to shoot their wedding right now, I just know it will be amazing.

If you enjoyed these stay tuned for tomorrow, when I post their bridals.

St. George with the Fam02.21.12

I was in St. George a little while ago for a fun engagement session, which should be up on the blog very soon. Since I was heading down there anyways, we decided to make a little family vacation out of it.

The kids couldn’t get enough hiking and “treasure hunting”. We would wake up in the morning and find a fun trail and hike till they were dead. With the weather in SLC staying just cold enough to make it hard to play outside, St. George was the perfect little break for us all.

This kid is easily the most difficult child we’ve had. But with much trial comes much reward. When he is in this mood we can’t get enough of it.

Sierra’s Senior Portraits02.17.12

Happy Friday! With everyone counting the hours down till the weekend, I want to share a fun 2012 Senior Session. Sierra is so energetic with big plans for her future. Getting to know Sierra was a lot of fun and reminded me why I enjoy Senior Sessions.
Tomorrow is one of those rare Saturdays that I’m not busy with a wedding or other type of shoot so I plan to relax and possibly hang out with some friends. While you’re here looking through these images and counting down the hours, feel free to leave some comment love for Sierra and let me know what kind of plans you have for the weekend.

I thought this was so funny. Who stops a girl, in the middle of a photo session, to ask her to take their picture? Seriously so funny.

Valentines Day02.14.12

Happy Valentines Day! I want to share this couple’s session with you. Allie and Trent are married and much in love. I love the idea of a couples session for spouses. How often do you get to have a fun session with your husband or wife besides during your wedding.
I hope you all get to enjoy this day with someone special. If you and your loved one want some fun couple portraits, give me a call.

Lazy Morning02.08.12

It’s nice to have a lazy day every once in a while, right?  It seems like it happens more often than not at our house, but my kids don’t seem to mind…

My Brother, The American Soldier01.17.12

Today was a proud but sad day for our family. My little brother is one of the 360 Utah soldiers that left for a 1 year term in Afghanistan. He still seems too young to be fighting for our freedom, but I am very proud of his dedicated service. I’m not the type to cry at situations like this because I have faith that he will be watched over and protected. The times I did get a little emotional were the times I thought about his young wife and baby boy that he was leaving behind. I thought about my own family and how hard it would be to leave them. Kenzee is strong. I believe she has a lot of support from her own family and ours, as well. But it’s hard not to think about having to change every diaper, pay every bill, run every errand, and hardest of all, go to bed alone every night. Chase, on the other hand, will be working hard and risking his life every day to make it possible for people like me to wake up and not worry as I document special events in people’s lives. I’m so grateful for these three, and the many other soldiers and families of soldiers, that give us this freedom. Thanks again Chase. We love you and you, Kenzee and Liam will be in our prayers everyday.
