I am very excited to post these senior pictures. Alishea is a beautiful senior from Alta High and it was a lot of fun to spend and evening capturing her personality. Alishea’s session started off really well and we got some great shots right away. We then moved to a new location where she asked to change outfits. I’m a big supporter of variety in wardrobe but I didn’t expect the dancing shoes. The sun was going down so I was very glad that I brought some of my lighting just in case. Believe it or not I’m not a dancer so I had to rely heavily on her for poses. She asked if she should do some of her tricks. I just laughed because it sounded like she was on a skateboard and was going to do a kickflip or something. I said of course and was amazed by her talent. Another great part was listening to her little sister say, “SICK! She is sooo flexible.” These fun shots prove again that when booking a portrait session you should not be afraid to use your talent as a prop. Thanks again Alishea.

RAYN – Yarn Twisted02.12.10
My neighbor contacted me with a bit of a proposition. She does some great crochet work and has done a few pieces for me in the past. She offered to make a bunch of newborn hats and cocoons for me, if I would take some pictures of her hats that are currently for sale on her Etsy site. I knew that my friend Lexi would be a perfect model to show off these hats. It was a lot of fun and I’m excited to do some more.
If any of you own a boutique or have items you sell on Etsy or anywhere that would benefit from professional pictures, lets talk.

Angies Girls – SLC Senior Photographer11.24.09
These girls are awesome. Not only are they sisters, but after spending some time taking their pictures, I could tell they are also best friends. I really enjoy shooting this age group. If you want a Best Friends shoot I have some fun ideas for you, so give me a call.

Caitlin Senior & Family {Senior and Family Photographer Travis J Photography}10.25.09
It’s rare to find a family of older kids, that are still willing to get close and hug for photos. You could tell that these guys were not just family but also good friends. Caitlin, the high school senior, was a natural in front of the camera. She claims it’s because she is in a photography class and because she is a huge fan of the TV show America’s Next Top Model. Either way she was a lot of fun.

Kaitlyn Urban Session07.02.09
Get ready this is going to be a big one. I have tried and tried to narrow this one down and this was the best I could do. There were so many fun shots in this one. I had to laugh at the end When Kaitlyn said, “I hope I didn’t ruin it.”
I learned something funny about her. She has the biggest fear of birds pooping on her. To her defense no one likes it but she puts this fear right next to being attacked by killer whales. I would get the shot all set up, look into the view finder, get it all in focus just as a bird would fly over and she would be gone. It was so funny. She brought along a couple of her girlfriends as moral support but they couldn’t help but laugh at her irrational fear as well. Kaitlyn is one of those girls that is such a naturally happy person that she couldn’t help but smile the whole time. At the end we decided that it would be a lot of fun to get a bunch of their friends together for a group shot someday. If anyone else would be interested in a group session let me know.

Annie’s Seniors06.17.09
I teach a sunday school class of 17 to 19 year olds, and a couple weeks ago I mentioned that I would be taking some senior pictures of Brianna. A few of the boys in the class smiled and one of them finally asked sheepishly, “Can we have one?” I just laughed and said, “you wish”.
I really enjoyed hanging out with Brianna and her mom, and I think these turned out really good.

Senior Collection05.29.09
As promised here are some of my favorites from the shoot way back on Mothers Day. I had a lot of fun and learned a ton. I discovered that, although I love shooting children, Seniors are much easier. The girls were great to work with and enjoyed being the center of attention. (Imagine that) Taylor was a total stud, and the camera obviously loved him.
Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Another Workshop Under My Belt05.14.09
Last weekend I attended a great workshop by Brianna Graham. Her style and technique was very interesting to learn. Working with other photographers was another great part of workshops that I enjoy. I’m excited to integrate some of the things I learned into my style. Here is a sneak peek of the photos that will be coming soon from the Urban session.

Models Make It Easy03.22.09
A couple weeks ago I did a workshop with Julie Parker. She brought one of her favorite models, Rachel. She is a lot of fun to work with, and she is a total natural. The hardest part about this shoot was narrowing down which pictures to post on the blog. The workshop was awesome and I learned a ton. If you love any of these dresses she is wearing, they are all from MikaRose

Nice! My favorites are the ballet shots because it infuses her personality the most. I also like the simplicity and ease of them. Love the last pose.
These are gorgeous Travis!! Love the dancing shots..they are beautiful. Nice work.
